We asked Scott Russo to tell us what goes on in the Unwritten Law Tour Bus – musically. Here’s what he had to say.
“On tour if you talk to my band there’s a lot of traditional reggae, Toots and The Maytals, a lot of ALT J. Rock is pretty much banned, unless it’s AC/DC or old school rock. We don’t get on our bus and listen to Bad Religion, NOFX or anything like that. That never happens. If you did you’d probably get sacked!
It’s more like chill music for when you are done playing and you’re still exhausted mentally and physically. The best part is if my family fly out or I have homies come out and stay on the bus with us, it’s really dope. One of the most beautiful parts about touring is obviously playing the shows is amazing and then the secondary thing is getting to travel and see things in the middle of the night and seeing the sunrise come up every morning.
Every morning, I don’t go to bed, and not because of drugs or anything ‘cos I really don’t fuck with that anymore, but every morning is the most beautiful sunrise ever, so if you have the right soundtrack like ALT J or something f*cking amazing and the sun is just coming up. Those are the things that are truly priceless. For any up and coming bands, they should know that’s the real glory!
