Emerging from the fog after some turbulent years, German black metal outfit Sacrilegious Rite is set to release their highly anticipated debut album, Summoned From Beyond next month through Dunkelheit Produktionen.
After solidifying their line-up, the band has delivered an album that encapsulates the true ancient spirit of black metal. Unpolished and raw, the mood is established early on, with the spooky intro “Missa Nigra” leading into the more aggressive title track, “Sacrilegious Rite” which features guest vocalist Lord Ashir of Infernal Execrator. From there on, the listener is dragged into a world of violent mystique. While not overly brutal, the well-constructed songs create a haunting atmosphere through harsh vocals and subtle tempo changes. Many of the tracks combine thrash riffs and blast-beat drumming with elements of groove and doom.
The album features some other guest vocalists, with Adaestuo‘s Hekte Zaren on “Remains of the Deceased” and Bestial Holocaust‘s Sonia Sepulcral on “Strigoicia.” Stand out tracks include “In Absence of Light” and “I Believe”, which both contain masterful riffs that you can bang your head to.
Summoned From Beyond is a solid album from a band with the potential to be a major force in the black metal scene for years to come.
