After the success last year of Rock Sisters United, one of the major players Stella Da’vaim has once more jumped behind the cause, putting together a great line-up of entertainment featuring Krave, Da’vaim, Violet and Kathleen Turner Overdrive at The Brightside on September 30.
Stella Da’vaim has this to say about Rock Sisters United”
“Rock Sisters United is predominantly about supporting and celebrating women in music. I started thinking about women in the music industry and a passion was ignited. As a female in the music industry myself, I had a vision to unite women doing what they love, which is play and create music in a supportive environment.
Rock Sisters United is a platform open to any females who are involved in bands, not just vocalists. This is not exclusive to female only bands as there are many men out there who support us.
Rock Sisters United events showcase our kick-ass women in bands locally and Australia wide, to tear up the stage and be celebrated for being women who can just be themselves.
After researching what bands there were in Brisbane , I found there is a growing number of women in bands. I felt this was a way to bring us all together, to network but also support each other in one place as we are all on a similar journey. It’s not about segregating women from men, it’s not what it’s about, it’s about banding together and celebrating us as women, that we can be successful in music, and creating a platform to do this.
With the growth of RSU since the first show in Feb 2021, an admin team has been created with likeminded passionate people to help share the workload.
This year I am excited to introduce a partnering with SEQLD charity 4 Voices.
4 Voices offer connection to girls and women who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing social isolation, domestic and family violence, homelessness and digital exclusion. Rock Sisters United are honoured to be able to support this mission.
This years event is at The Brightside in Fortitude Valley on the 30th September. We have 4 bands on the line up who each have their own unique sound and who are amazing at their craft. We have Krave., KTO. Kathleen Turner Overdrive, Violet and Da’vaim.
I am proud to announce that this year we have a local Brisbane artist Laing Rahner who will be doing a live painting during the night whilst the bands are performing.”
