The Return Of The All Mighty STRYPER

It has been a weird twelve months for the legends known simply as Stryper. The band should be on a high – their new album God Damn Evil was being described as one of their greatest in their 40 year history, but then the band had to deal with some stores refusing to stock it on their shelves because of the name… frustrating to say the least. Now though the band have put all that aside and have thrilled their Australian fans with the announcement that they will be touring this year, their first trip to Australia in 8 years.

HEAVY Mag caught up with front man Michael Sweet to see what their fans have to look forward to “We are always thrilled to come to Australia. Sadly we are not able to come as often as we would like – sometime due to scheduling, sometimes due to finances or it just not in the cards for some reason to come. To be honest we would love to come every year. But we were finally able to work out this year… in support of our new album – God Damn Evil – and we are really, really excited about it.”

“Australia really does hold a very special place in our hearts,” says Sweet reflecting. “There are only a few places we can say that about, and the reason that I say that is because if we go back in time, back to when we first travelled around the world Japan was one of those places and Australia was one of those places and then there was Europe as well. But Australia just really embraced us and just always have and so when we look back at those memories and we think about going back to Australia again we always get that excited feeling. So we are thrilled to be coming and to get to see all of our fans there and to be performing these songs. You know we haven’t been for awhile, i think the last time we were there was 2010, that is quite awhile ago, so we are really blessed to be coming and we hope that all of the Australian fans feel the same way.
