In celebration of the label’s first 12 months, Reckless Records announces its first label showcase, taking place at Sydney’s Bank Hotel, Newtown on June 8, headlined by acclaimed singer-songwriter Ella Hooper, with Sydney’s The Hollywood Waltz, and introducing the all new Josh Owen Band.
Reckless Records label head Scot Crawford said today, “We thought it was time to pull a few of our artists together for our first showcase. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate the success the label has had in just over 12 months of existence, with 65 releases to date from Ella Hooper, James Reyne, Boom Crash Opera, The Poor, Angry Anderson/ Rose Tattoo, The Hollywood Waltz, Truck, and Palace of the King.
“We’ve had 2 number 1 AIR chart albums, 2 albums top 5 in the ARIA vinyl chart and a number 1 on the ARIA Country chart. It’s interesting to look back 1 year later on what essentially was a project born out of lockdown frustration.
“The concept behind the label was always to support Australian artists that we already work with or see development potential in. The label has been able to help artists like The Poor get to Europe twice in the past 12 month and develop a passionate offshore market.
“We have worked closely with acts like Josh Owen and The Hollywood Waltz to produce great albums that we look forward to releasing across the next 12 months.”
