From Bordeaux, France, Quintana Dead Blues eXperience return with Ashes, a raw and unrelenting new album landing June 26, 2026.
Rooted in blues-rock-stoner-alternative, grunge, and stripped-down rock’n’roll, the project of lifer Piero Quintana pulls from both sides of the Atlantic, somewhere between the weight of Sabbath, the abrasion of Nirvana, and the French lineage of the duo The Inspector Cluzo, Trust, and Les Thugs. After decades spent circling the edges of rock’n’roll, from early bands in the ’90s to years alone as a one-man wrecking crew, Quintana now returns backed by drummer Adrien Schiavone as a stripped-down, full-force duo.
The result is heavier, looser, and far more volatile, a record that leans into instinct over perfection and keeps everything right on the edge of control. Tracks like Spell on Me and Wild as Fire move with a kind of blunt force momentum, riffs that stick and drag, rhythms that feel closer to impact than groove. Still Haunted leans into a darker, more spacious tension, while their take on School pulls Nirvana through a heavier, more abrasive lens. There’s a physicality to it, like stepping out of a packed room into cold night air, sweat still clinging, ears ringing.
