Public transport woes for Soundwave Festival Melbourne

Soundwave Festival has issued a statement regarding public transport to its Melbourne event on 21 and 22 February.

Due to other citywide commitments, Public Transport Victoria has advised that no public transport will be made available for the 2015 Soundwave Event. This includes all train, tram and bus services to and from the venue.

The Festival has provided other options but this means some planning in advance.

  1. TRAVEL BY TRAIN

Soundwave will run a return shuttle bus services from North Melbourne and Footscray Train Stations. To utilise this service you MUST pre-book a ticket.

Shuttle Tickets:
$5 + Booking Fee / Single Day
$10 + Booking Fee / Weekend Pass

Please Note: If either station is deemed to be at full capacity after the show, the Soundwave Shuttles may be diverted to the alternate station without warning.

  1. TRAVEL BY CAR

Whilst Soundwave Festival usually discourages patron parking, it is anticipated that a higher number of attendees will drive to the event in 2015. These are your options:

CAR POOLING – The closest car park for Soundwave Festival is Riverbank. This car park has limited spaces and can ONLY be pre-booked by patrons attending with at least 4 occupants in their vehicle.
To utilise this you MUST pre-book a ticket: $30 + Booking Fee / Day (pre-booking only)

Please Note: Car Pooling Tickets are sold on the condition that vehicles arrive with a minimum of four occupants, vehicles with less than four (4) people in the vehicle will not be admitted into the car park and must present their ticket at Park & Ride for admission.

PARK & RIDE – Additional event parking will be located at Mooney Valley Racecourse, with shuttle buses operating throughout the day. Tickets for Park & Ride may be pre-booked or purchased on the day of the event.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING – Vehicles with an accessible parking permit will be able to access Melbourne Showgrounds Western Carpark via Leonards Crescent off Langs Road.

These are the ONLY parking options available to Soundwave patrons. Parking illegally in surrounding streets / suburbs will incur heavy fines! Council officers will be patrolling and issuing parking infringement notices

3. PARENT DROP OFF

If you are being dropped off by family or friends please observe the following:

PARENT DROP OFF – A drop off zone will be in place on Langs Road in a westbound direction between RASV Gates 3 and 5. To utilise this zone you MUST enter Langs road from Epsom Road and stay in the left lane.

PARENT PICK UP – From 8pm a parent pick up zone will be set up at the Ascot Vale Leisure Centre. To utilise this zone you MUST enter via Epsom Road in a Southbound Direction.
