The Devil Rides Out: The Righteous Walk Single

Share This:

The Devil Rides Out are known for their heavy riffs and husky vocals as well as their bluesy guitar driven tales, the new single The Righteous Walk, does not pass this by.

A Tom Wait’s style vocal ponders sadness and regret over the top of a swampy blues style soundtrack.  This is the most emotional TDRO release to date; written after the death of vocalist Joey K’s father, listening to this makes hairs on the back of your neck stand on end and the tears flow. As their promo says, it’s a tale of “loss and redemption”.

The guest keys by Julian Bolleter adds another level of emotion into the mix. It’s a delicate balance of power and shattering heartbreak that envelopes the listener from start to finish.

The Devil Rides Out have clearly been through some personal tragedy and opened right up with this release, it’s a massive song and the only one on the promo but I think that was an intelligent decision. Anything else would have taken away from the sheer power of this track. Even if the rest of the album is half as strong as The Righteous Walk, it’s surely set to be one of the best albums of 2013.

Make sure you grab a copy of HEAVY Music Magazine’s Issue 6 HERE as Burn Again is also included on the free cover CD as well as The Devil Rides Out featured in the Oz Underground section.

The Righteous Walk is taken from the forthcoming album The Ugly Creatures, to be launched June 28th at Amplifier Capitol in Perth and due out July 1st 2013.
