PRIDELANDS Talk Storming Australia

Share This:

You always have to give credit to a band that are willing to go the whole nine yards to achieve their dream. Pridelands are about to set out on their maiden Australian headline tour but what is more impressive is what this band has done to get to this point. Several years ago now the band uprooted themselves from Mt Gambier and moved to Melbourne in a bid to give themselves better opportunities and from there things have really taken off. The band has been doing killer shows and their EP Any Colour You Desire received critical acclaim right across the board, so HEAVY Mag decided to sit down and have a chat with Liam Fowler from Pridelands to find out all there is to know about this band on the rise.

“I started the band when I was about 16 or 17,” says Fowler as we go right back to the start. “We are originally from Mt Gambier in South Australia so we moved to Melbourne in 2014 so we could take it a bit more seriously, then we released our debut EP in 2015 and then we did a few singles in 2016 and we’ve gone through a few line-up changes since then. But then our line-up came together last year and we played a lot but then decide to take a break to redefine the band and redefine ourselves as musicians because we felt it was time to change. So we took a break and then we wrote Any Colour You Desire and then we recorded it “

This national tour also sees the band return to Mt Gambier and they say that is something they are really looking forward to. “Oh dude we are so excited,” says Fowler laughing. “This will be the first time we have played in Mt Gambier since early 2015 I think. We played for a band that was doing their final show and then a couple of years ago we tried to go back and we had a show organised and all the bands booked to play went to Mt Gambier and then on the day of the show there was an issue with the guy that had organised it and it all fell through so we have been itching to get back there but it has been hard to get there, so it is awesome now that we get to go back and play for all our friends and family. I think for us Melbourne and Mt Gambier will be the two biggest shows of the tour.”
