Encompassing goopy 80s guitar strums and a generous helping of synthesisers, PRETTY BLEAK curate a confronting yet endearing soundtrack to early 20s life, with vocalist Sam Thomas eloquently juggling themes of addiction, avoidance and being human.
“The song is about the human tendency to placate our emotions with menial pleasures, which develop into addictions or dependencies,” explains Sam.
“The specific nature of the addiction is dependent on the listeners interpretation, whether it be drugs, or laughter, or the amount of times you look in the mirror each day.”
