Naarm/Melbourne based Metalcore outfit Vault Hill have just unleashed their incredibly powerful new single and video called ‘The Pain We Keep Alive’, which premiered exclusively via HEAVY Mag.
The single is taken from their forthcoming seven-track EP, due for release in September. Inspired by vocalist Morgan’s experiences living and working in the Northern Territory, the release reflects on the ongoing inequality faced by First Nations communities while paying tribute to the region’s unique beauty and harsh landscape.
“The Pain We Keep Alive is about an uncomfortable truth, the more we look away, the more we distance ourselves from the problems people face here in the Northern Territory and remote Australia, the longer we give life to the pain these problems bring. The lyrics contain the description of the story of oppression and how modern Australia has addressed it. The Bridging the Gap Royal Commission’s findings and evidence that these problems have not gone away, in many cases have become worse and yet the perception in the media, for the sake of tourism or to globally save face as a nation, is that equality not only exists but is celebrated.”
Vault Hill combine modern Metalcore with the groove, aggression and intensity of bands such as Lamb Of God, Slipknot, Killswitch Engage and Every Time I Die. Known for their crushing riffs, relentless live shows and socially conscious songwriting, the band continue to establish themselves as one of Melbourne’s emerging heavy acts.
