South of Sideways is an upcoming independent heavy rock outfit based on the Gold Coast, Australia.
Formed in late 2019, the band released their debut single The Light You Promised in December 2020, contrasting the light and shade within their music.
Closer to Nowhere is their third release, following on from Consequences, which was released in July 2022 after a long hiatus for the developing band.
The concept of Closer To Nowhere revolves around an executive who has spent his career “climbing the ladder” while sacrificing relationships. His focus is achieving the next promotion, more money, status and power. After a near-death experience, he realises that he has alienated himself from all those he cares about and his life is unfulfilled, so he begins to search for a new purpose.
This track gives a firmer indication of what is to come from South Of Sideways and marches the band confidently into the next phase of their existence.
