Premiere: SCANDAL TREE ‘Tooth Fairy’

With a new vocalist, a new sound, and some new quirks, Brisbane rock outfit Scandal Tree have birthed a monster single, Tooth Fairy, which is set to tickle your ear fuzz and perhaps your funny bone too. This new track rocks and rumbles with rich guitar crunch, rhythmic punch, drive, a splash of harmonica and a brooding vocal.

Thematically, Tooth Fairy investigates the demented withdraw of little beasties cut off from their juice. Fairytale creatures who feed on milk teeth and grow resentful and irrational when the children grow up and the teeth stop dropping out. And though the idea may initially seem frivolous, the track disguises its core theme of addiction and addictive behaviours.

“Who doesn’t love a good song about heartbreak, torment and cannibalism?” quips singer/writer Huck, “But we know these are some of the monsters in our lives – an outer shell of benevolence and a tormented monster just beneath”.

Accompanying the release of Tooth Fairy is a totally whack music video made by the band themselves. Mixing greasepaint, dentistry, ghouls and snakes, the video will leave many mouths agape. The song is the first single from Scandal Tree’s debut album, Never Look a Gift Foot in the Mouth, with the release date coming soon. Tooth Fairy and the other nine tracks were recorded at Core Studios and engineered by Oz music legend Nik Carpenter.
