Maryborough heavy-hitters Ruination release their debut album Everything Eventually on Friday, October 10 via Golden Robot Records, featuring their new single Downward with an official music video. Everything Eventually will be available on CD and online streaming platforms, with a hometown all-ages launch show at the Carriers Arms Hotel on the same night.
Downward starts with a hard-edged riff that sets the tone for what’s to come. The backdrop of a lush verse draws you closer, before pummelling you with a clenched fist and banging your head when the chorus kicks in. Luke Karolak (guitar/vocals) explains, “Downward is about dealing with loss, as well as the processes in connection with that, but also moving forward, and adopting a what’s done is done mentality, living in the present. The song is based very loosely on a period in our lives where we are at the proverbial ‘fork in the road’, not knowing where to look, or turn.”
Everything Eventually picks up where their 2022 EP Whispers left off, adding five new tracks to complete the body of work. Recorded at King Street Studios with producer Mick Bristow, the album shows a step-up in songwriting, performance and production values for Ruination, with the band having honed their skills on the touring circuit between the two releases.
Karolak concludes, “Everything Eventually was a natural progression for us. Fans from the beginning will love it. The production is huge! The album itself is the sum of three very hard-working, passionate guys who love what we do, and this is a testament to that. This album is a reflection of our journey and growth as a band.”
