Sydney noise merchants Punish are premiering their new single You Got This, a positive, major key song about pushing through the shit that life serves you, embracing community and reminding yourself that you’re not alone.
Much like their previous single Dogma Leash, this song was written from a self-reflective standpoint, with vocalist Tome Fowler singing these words to himself just as much as anyone else. Often the first step is the hardest and the one that requires the most force to push through. Hence, the first line of the song, “Just get up and do something”.
The video clip is set at a Sydney skatepark. With the help of a couple of mates, the band organised a DIY gig, hired a generator, got a few bands to play and hoped for the best! Luckily, the cops didn’t shut it down, and the show was a success, with a bunch of punx rockin’ out in the skate bowl.
You Got This is the second single from Punish‘s upcoming album The Measure, which will be released in January 2025. The band will be touring the East Coast to promote the album throughout January and February next year, with their album launch set for Jan 18 at The Duke (Sydney/Eora).
Filmed by Nathan Lee of Applied Photonics. Recorded/produced by Jason Whalley at The Pet Food Factory.
