Melbourne Indie-Punks Dental Plan have released their most ambitious, yet effortlessly-accessible track to date. Cant Get What You Want is a soaring indie-punk anthem, where the band showcase the band’s influences such as The Menzingers, Militarie Gun, and Magic Dirt with a dual male/female vocal-driven, fuzzed-out banger only possible through a life well lived.
Vocalist Niam Hegarty shares of the track, “This is a break-up song, written at a crossroads in my life, I had a hell of a dark period – took a long walk to my favourite burger shop – when I arrived home I wrote this song on an acoustic guitar with the lyrics and music fully formed, it took only a few minutes, and we had a tune, I hope it holds that raw emotion. Originally, we had intended to record this acoustically, but it sounded so great with Joanne’s vocals and the full fuzzed out guitar sound, we stuck with that for the record.”
Can’t Get What You Want is the third and final single from Dental Plan’s debut album, Raw Nerve, setting the tone for a powerful Alt/Punk album. Raw Nerve is out July 19 digitally and a limited edition LP will be pressed on Blood Red Vinyl. Pre-Order LP & Digital
Dental Plan are launching the track at The Retreat in Brunswick, Melbourne on Thursday, May 30 with a Free Entry show where they are shooting a video and will be joined by mates Echo Social Club, Future Tongues and Unscored.
