Checaine is on fire.
Last week they reached number 11 on the NZ rock radio charts; their last single Black River hit #15 on the Heatseeker charts and the NZ Top 40 officially has pumped them as one of the top 5 acts to watch.
These feats are generally reserved for pop acts and are huge accomplishments considering the band achieved this solely through regional and independent radio play and fan-driven content consumption.
For the gatekeepers out there ready to waterboard any band getting commercial attention, take note, this is not a pop-rock band. Checaine are dragging real rock back into the spotlight.
On the contrary, their latest single Remedy sounds like a mash-up of opiate era Tool and the vocals end in a barrage of melodic fury that would make Chris Cornell proud.
