Premiere: AKIRA SLIDE ‘Intimate Angels’

After months of anticipation, Adelaide cinematic post-hardcore outfit AKIRA SLIDE are finally ready to show why Wall of Sound named them one of their “15 Emerging Aussie Acts To Watch In 2026″ as they drop their CUPID DEATH MACHINE EP today.

The first full chapter in the mysterious narrative that encompasses everything from stage personas to their social media presence, AKIRA SLIDE will be celebrating the release throughout November with their first interstate tour alongside nu-metal kings Flow Kobra (NSW) and emo punk heroes All Regards (VIC), ending in a massive hometown debut headliner at The Ed Castle on November 27.

Today they also premiere the EP’s latest single Intimate Angels.

“Intimate Angels is the horrible, jagged core of this set of songs“, the band said. “The final single and music video for this release cycle, it’s by far the heaviest song on the EP and it’s also the narrative center of everything: this is the “Incident” that has been referenced so heavily in all the AKSD lore so far. It’s a real tragically ugly song – deep, horrible betrayal and the total loss of one’s humanity for the sake of revenge, regardless of whether that rage is justified or not. It’s a song of complete emotional delusion – what rage so intense could ever be rational? We were fortunate enough to get our good friend Rhys from Lumens (Rhys Jackson-Stars, vocalist for Adelaide progressive metalcore act Lumens) to feature on the second verse, which he just absolutely killed. It’s also a total assbeater live. I’m really looking forward to ripping this one at the headliner – I plan to get down in the pit with the mic and I’m hoping people will make me regret it.”
