Phoenix Rising with KARLY JEWELL

Share This:

“It’s pretty exciting because musically for me it felt like we got to cover a few different genres in some of the songs”, explained Karly Jewell, speaking about her band’s upcoming debut album Phoenix. “They’re very inspired from what I grew up with so some are maybe a little early 1960’s poppy stuff and then they go into heavier riffs and then it’s more like full on Aussie rock (laughs). We all really worked hard to get it happening the way we wanted it so I’m really excited. The end track is a song I wrote for my Grandmother and that one’s actually piano and bass so it’s also showing my versatility as a song writer. I’m excited to share what I’ve really worked hard for as a writer and to cover that in an album”.

In the full interview Karly discusses her goals with the album Phoenix which is released on June 7, why it took nine years to put out, how she has refinied her sound over the years, utilising different generes within her music, why she chose rock as a career, teaing up with Mark Dalbeth in L.A, the importance of creating an overseas profile and more.
