Phil Anselmo is known as being one of the most aggressive front men in metal and his debut solo album Walk Through Exits Only proves this over and over.
The album starts out with a groove type track entitled Music Media Is My Whore, which kept the same feel throughout as Maziar Montazeri’s (Warbeast) pounding drums are a stand out and serve as a good introduction to this hostile album.
The production of the album saw producers Phil Anselmo and Michael Thompson take a more old school approach as the album’s content seems like it was taken straight out of the ‘90s with absolute aggression increasingly taking over with each track.
Standout tracks on the album include Bedridden with it’s heavy riffs and relentless drumming from start to finish and the last track on the album entitled Irrelevant Walls And Computer Screens as it starts with some intense groove before taking a more progressive approach, taking the listener on a journey to conclude their listen of the album Walk Through Exits Only wanting more.
The artwork includes a dark and very morbid looking shot of Phil Anselmo which definitely helps set the mood and give the listener an idea of what to expect.
