Former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo, has publically apologized after his shocking outburst on stage last week at Dimebash. He was heard clearly to yell the words ‘White Power’ repeatedly and offered a Nazi-style salute to the crowd.
Several musicians in the HEAVY scene have come out and condemned the actions of Anselmo, and rightfully so. It has no place in our scene or any regular functioning society. Robb Flynn (Machine Head) was the first to criticize Anselmo citing his behavior as “fucking wrong.”
Anselmo initially refused to apologize, stating that it was an in-joke about drinking white wine back stage. But following the severe backlash, he has admitted that he’s deserved the scrutiny of the public after his outburst.
