PERTURBATOR Set To Return Down Under Supporting HEALTH

Interview by Angela Croudace

Synth-driven producer Perturbator is heading back to Australia next month, joining HEALTH‘s tour as support after the two acts crossed paths through mutual popularity in the region. In a new interview, the artist explained the tour was an easy yes: a chance to return to a country he already loves, paired with an invitation from friends whose Australian fanbase is thriving.

It’s not his first rodeo here, and he’s clearly fond of what he’s found before, from the food and the “opposite” weather to, unsurprisingly, the kangaroos. But it’s the crowds that stand out most. He described Australian audiences as wild and riotous in the best way, calling the shows some of the most memorable of his touring career.

The tour also lands at an interesting point in his creative evolution. What started as a bedroom-producer project has grown into a globally touring act, and his sound has shifted well beyond the synthwave tag that once defined him — something he says was a deliberate break after 2016’s The Uncanny Valley. These days, he leans into whatever feels honest, drawing inspiration from film, video games, and even brutalist architecture.

With a soundtrack still on his bucket list, Australian fans can expect a set shaped by an artist unafraid to keep moving forward.
