As much as we all love the atmosphere of a music festival, sometimes you just need to get down and dirty with your favourite band with only 700 of your closest mates, not 40,000.
Which is why many people choose to just go to side shows from festival bands, and others do both.
Organisers of Knotfest 2024 have both sides of the musical fence covered with an assortment of side shows now released, and HEAVY has taken it upon ourselves to run through them in a bit more detail for you, show by show.
Today we start with the big sideshow, and one which only people who live in or are willing to travel to Adelaide have the opportunity to see.
We’re talking about the mighty Pantera, who have only scheduled one show other than their Knotfest appearances.
One of the most enduring and influential acts to emerge from the second thrash metal wave in the late 80s and early 90s, heavy groove behemoths PANTERA have eternally remained a force to be reckoned with. Regarded as one of the greatest metal bands of all time, PANTERA rose to massive global success in the 1990s, with multiple gold and platinum albums, sold-out tours, ferocious live performances and four Grammy nominations. From the release of their game-demolishing 1990 album Cowboys From Hell through to the 2023 reunion of Rex Brown and Phil Anselmo for their first tour in over two decades, the PANTERA name lives on with a new visage and continues to grow their legacy while spreading everlasting metal madness to the masses. This will be their first Australian show since 1996 and their only Australian headline show!
Special guests are Melbourne grindcore experts KING PARROT who are ready to swing their insidious sonic wrecking ball with lashings of angst, absurdity and antics and Sydney’s genre-bending heavy groove exponents BLACK RHENO with their blend of stoner, sludge, punk, grind, groove metal into a wild and rollicking good time.
