Ocean Sleeper, Gippsland’s rising stars of the Australian metalcore scene, have turned towards their pop sensibilities to fine-tune their sound. The result is their dynamic single, Never The One.
The 3-piece has fully leaned into a D.I.Y. approach that started with their last EP Is It Better Feeling Nothing, guitarist and vocalist Ionei Heckenberg produced and mixed the single at his Zanari Records studio, whilst also handling the shooting and editing of the music video with additional filming by tour videographer Jaydon Colvin.
To achieve their desired sound, the band worked with Jeff Dunne for mastering, ensuring the final touches met their expectations. Never The One demonstrates Ocean Sleeper’s love for big rock and pop songs, without sacrificing their crushing heavy moments. The track also marks a first for the band, featuring Karl’s clean singing debut and highlighting Ionei’s development as a vocalist and producer.
