“Nobody Has Any Respect for Gene Simmons Anymore.” – Nikki Sixx

Share This:

Nikki Sixx has called on Gene Simmons to “call it a day,” and that no one has any respect for him, with the latest outburst about Prince merely being the icing on the cake.

Gene Simmons made some startling comments when speaking with NME in a recent interview about the death of Prince, labeling the recently deceased superstar, “pathetic.” Simmons went on to say: “His drugs killed him,” (This hasn’t been confirmed by a coroner – Ed) “What do you think, he died from a cold? I think Prince was heads, hands and feet above all the rest of them. I thought he left [Michael] Jackson in the dust. Prince was way beyond that. But how pathetic that he killed himself. Don’t kid yourself, that’s what he did. Slowly, I’ll grant you… but that’s what drugs and alcohol is: a slow death.”

Paul Stanley was the first to admonish Simmons behavior and even apologised on behalf of his band mate, taking to Twitter in response saying he was: “Embarrassed by the cold clueless statements re Prince’s death. Without all the facts it’s better to say nothing.”

Nikki Sixx has now taken it one step further, he told FM99 WNOR: “We have no respect for Gene Simmons anymore – nobody in rock does. And I’m not gonna sit back quietly and allow a bully to go out there and put down people he doesn’t know anything about.

“I think that Gene should call it a day, and that we should look at this beautiful catalogue of music that Prince has given us. And if you wanna compare Prince to Kiss…there’s no comparison. Prince has been an amazing artist. He’s kept his standard high over the years and was never just about money and ego – it was about music.”
