Tortoise are going to be touring Australian and New Zealand real soon. December actually. Tour dates, locations and supports are below.

LIFE IS NOISE is excited to announce the handpicked local support acts for the upcoming Tortoise tour through New Zealand and Australia this December.

In Auckland on December 2 at the Kings Arms will be self-proclaimed ‘forest doom’ outfit, the haunting Greenfog, in main support. They will be backed by the progressive sounds of atmospheric rockers The Dark Third.

The wandering musical odysseys and warmer instrumental tones of Hiboux will be moving audiences before the headliners on December 3 at the San Fran in Wellington. Punk-infused avant-indie act  fFolks will be starting the evening.

Brisbane’s The Zoo will play host on December 6 to Big Dead—moving punters from chaos to catharsis through slow-burning jazz-rock—as the main support. Head there early to be blown away by the reverb-soaked tidings of Nature Trails, as they splice together the best elements of post-punk, shoegaze and death pop.

On December 7 at the Manning Bar, Tortoise will be supported by furious math-rock powerhouse, SEIMS—who have drawn comparisons to big names like 65daysofstatic, And So I Watch You From Afar, Battles and Adebisi Shank. And fellow Sydney locals Tangents will kick-off through an exploration of the space between classical composition, free jazz and experimental electronic music.

The Croxton will be brought to life on December 8 when Melbourne’s premier instrumental post-rock horde Fourteen Nights At Sea—who just recently released the eerie Acres/No Capital EP—serve as main support. Whimsical dream pop outfit half/cut will draw you in to start things off.

Adelaide’s Fowlers Live will catch the contagious, math-infused rhythms of Sparkspitter, a courageous instrumental art-pop act, before Tortoise on December 9. The otherworldly, doom-infected post-rock sounds of locals Last Days Of Kali will entrance you as they open this huge event.

Wrapping up this gigantic tour in Perth on December 10 at The Rosemount Hotel, Mt. Mountain will take you on a spiralling journey—expanding minds through rolling, psyche-driven highs—and electronic producer Akioka, aka Tessa Darcey, will stun through waves of experimental sound and ethereal vocals.

Tickets from lifeisnoise.com, the venues and undertheradar.co.nz for NZ shows.
