New Prog Rock From Dane Woods

Dane Woods is a multi-instrumentalist from Cape Town, South Africa.

With a few singles and an EP already under his belt, Dane recently  released his first full album, self-recorded over a couple of years in several bedrooms. “Parts of a Whole” has been described as “a fascinating collection of alternative, progressive and post-rock tunes that shows an artist carrying out his unique vision.”

Dane previously performed as a drummer with numerous bands on the Cape Town music scene but decided to pursue the production of his own music as a solo artist. He writes, performs and records all his own material.

Reviewers have described his sounds as “soul-healing” yet “explosive”, as he soothes with tenderness in his lighter works while delivering some “bad-ass” musical blows at his heavier times.

He has been compared to the likes of Royal Blood, Black Keys and Queens of the Stone Age in some of his musical offerings, as well as being likened to having the “tormented voice of Thom Yorke” in others. Further comparisons include elements of Bon Iver and Sigur Ros.
