New Music From THE WAYWARD FRANKLINS

She Don’t Care‘ is pretty much about unrequited love. Or at least being in a doomed relationship. I think it’s about not giving a fuck what people think, and giving up everything for someone you love, except that she doesn’t really love you, she’s just going along for the ride until she gets bored because, in the end, she doesn’t really care.

Musically we wanted a fun punky, bluesy type sound. Something that would get ya moving. Even though lyrically it’s about failed love, sometimes failed love can still be fun.

Band Bio:

They say life imitates art and this statement could not be more correct in the case of Townsville’s The Wayward Franklins.

Far North Queensland is renowned for its laid back atmosphere and way of life, but when creativity and angst are peppered through your veins the only natural outlet is music.

Because of – and possibly in spite of – this relative isolation from the rest of the music fraternity The Wayward Franklins quickly ditched the garage after forming in 2017 and set their sights on the bigger musical picture.

Unburdened by expectation and not yet exposed to structural limitations imposed on bands with a larger demographic, The Wayward Franklins let their music form through experimentation rather than expectation and have produced a sound and style that although being an amalgamation of many genres is most definitely their own.

Blending traditional hard rock, punk, grunge, metal and blues – often in the one song – The Wayward Franklins have cast aside the conventional rules of music to produce something refreshingly pure and staggeringly unique. Combining heavy breakdowns with bluesy licks and grungey distortion, The Wayward Franklins aren’t here to please anybody except themselves, but thankfully have laid the foundations for others to follow. Their songs are about exposing vulnerable emotions we all go through but rather than allow themselves to be buried by regret and sorrow, their music offers light and humour, two key components too often missing in today’s sanitised musical environment.

With one E.P, She, already out through Spotify, The Wayward Franklins have already turned their attention to a new release in August 2019. Currently untitled this EP is a change of direction musically, with a heavier and grittier sound. It will showcase three songs ‘Wildman Johnny‘, ‘Cigarettes and Wine‘ and ‘The Devil Called My Name‘.
