Moroccan author Khalil Boughali has recently published a new book on Black Metal titled Thoughts On Black Metal.
Rather than focusing on the history of black metal, Thoughts on Black Metal takes a philosophical approach to the music genre.
It is a translation of the original French version, Réflexions sur le black metal, published in 2021.
The book describes black metal as a transcendental and mystical art, which can constitute a full-fledged way of life with considerable spiritual potential. It relies on the works of thinkers such as Nietzsche, Georges Bataille, Theodor Adorno, and also on academic research.
The final section of the book is a selective anthology featuring bands like Burzum, Gorgoroth, Mgła and Deathspell Omega.
