New beginnings for DROWN THIS CITY

Listen to the interview below or on Spotify and iTunes Podcast:

When it comes to news HEAVY Mag always likes to be first. So when we heard that Melbourne post-hardcore outfit Drown This City was signing to UNFD and announcing the release of their brand new EP Alpha//Survivor we just had to get in their first and give lead vocalist Alex Reade a call.

“Yeah… I am so excited,” says Reade when we first start chatting to her. “This has been in the works for a really long time actually… September last year we actually sealed the deal, on my birthday which is really amazing. We’ve been keeping this under wraps since then and we started to count down about forty days ago until the release on Thursday. But yeah, it is so exciting for us, they are a dream label so this is just a dream come true so honestly I am just counting down the days because this is going to be the best week of my life.”

“The music is written and we are going to release this EP,” she says when our discussion turns to Alpha//Survivor. “And then we hope to get back in and start recording straight away. We would love to do another EP or maybe even an album, but I am very keen to do a lot of shows and some tours. I want to keep our engagement really consistent then we will have some real surges of energy and really great opportunities. We’ve had a lot of down time as we have shifted the line-up in the band so when we release this it will be full-steam ahead and hopefully we can keep that momentum going.”

Alpha//Survivor is out on July 5th.
