When I say the name Moshcam I’m sure most of you know exactly what I’m talking about. Those awesome live music videos that have popped up on YouTube from time to time over the past 15 years. Whether it’s PARKWAY DRIVE, KARNIVOOL, BODYJAR, KING GIZZARD, SLASH, CALLING ALL CARS, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and countless other bands… if you’re a music lover who loves to get sweaty in a venue, the name Moshcam has probably popped up in your YouTube feed. If it hasn’t, now’s a good time to change that.

So what is Moshcam exactly?

Moshcam is a live music concert film production company based in Sydney that has been going around the country filming the music that we love. It has recently stepped up a level establishing itself as a streaming service, allowing viewers the ability to see more content with a better viewing experience.

Who are they?

It’s driven by a crew of creative mercenaries with cameras who love live music and know how the fuck to capture it! Some of the best video quality from the best cameramen in the country, combined with professionally mixed live audio recordings straight from the desk get cut together to look like you just got punched in the face with a lighting rig.

Why is their stuff so good?

For the past 15 years they have been filming content, shooting shows, writing reviews, and building a huge back catalogue of live music content designed specifically for the punter. Many of the people working behind the screens have a lifetime of experience with their craft, so you’re guaranteed good content. The best part is that it’s not something shot from a studio TV camera in another dimension, it’s exactly as the name suggests. Most of what you see is taken from the pit or on the stage and cut together with a studio quality finesse to make it a pleasure to watch.

What’s different now and what are we in for?

With so much experience and content to offer, 2022 has seen the start of something special. Moshcam was recognised by the Australian Government to be eligible for funding under the Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) initiative following the pandemic. This has allowed them to shoot a run of fully produced shows throughout 2022 and launch their app. Now you can download the free Moshcam app to watch these concerts on your phone, laptop, desktop computer, or even streamed to your TV in FULL HD. So if you couldn’t make it to that awesome show you missed, or you want to re-live it through the lens of someone who wasn’t kicked in the face by a crowd surfer (or maybe they were), now you can.

Who have they covered this year?

Undertaking the World Stage Project using the RISE funding, Moshcam has already captured some of the country’s best. There’s been something for everyone this year from LIME CORDIALE, THE JUNGLE GIANTS, SYCCO and OCEAN ALLEY – to NORTHLANE, POLARIS and ALPHA WOLF – to THE RUBENS, POND and EVEN. There’s plenty more to come… with PLINI, THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT, PHIL JAMIESON, THE HOODOO GURUS and THE DANDY WARHOLS all locked in the chamber, and even more to come!

What do you pay?

A couple of songs from every show that gets shot and produced go up for free on YouTube and with the amount of content that exists, that can keep you busy for a while. If you want the best viewing experience however, I highly recommend downloading the app. For the price of just a beer a month ($7.99 US), you can access all the shows from this year, plus an extensive back catalogue that gets updated every week. Or if there’s just one show you want to watch, you can watch a fully produced set for just $3.99US.

Not quite ready to part with your beer money just yet?

No problem. With a free basic account (which just requires an email address) you can watch one song from each of the awesome new shows, plus access to a weekly changing playlist with no subscription or credit card required.
