MICHAEL SWEET – One Man

Share This:

One of the biggest tours in Australia in 2018 was the sold out Stryper show. Now Aussie Stryper fans are in for a whole new treat as main man Michael Sweet heads to Australia for a acoustic tour to prepare fans for his brand new solo album Ten due out in September.

HEAVY Mag recently caught up with Sweet to chat not only about his brand new album but to see what Aussie music fans can expect from his tour as well.

“There is always that fine line of when you are in a band of crossing that line,” says Sweet as we talk about where the thoughts of doing an acoustic show came from. “There is going out and doing solo shows but I never want to detract from Styper obviously because that is my priority. But that being said it is always exciting for me to go and do things in an unique way… a different way. I mean everybody is used to the loud amps and the rock show which is great, I am not taking anything away from that, but there is something to be said for an intimate personal set as well. That is just a guy up there with his guitar, telling stories about the songs and showing people how the songs originated because most of the songs you hear on a Styper or a Michael Sweet album started out on acoustic guitar.”

“So it is nice to be able to go out there and present that,” he continues. “And it is nice to be able to go out there and be able to high five people during the song and then be able to talk. It is almost like I am in my living room with my family and everybody is just hanging out. That is what I am looking forward to – being able to go to Australia with my Australian family and perform and getting a chance to know people a little bit more.”
