Metallica takes a dump in tribute band’s cornflakes.

Lawyered-up Metallica have once again taken their intellectual property rights fight to a whole new level.

According to Rockfeed Metallica have been: “threatening serious legal action against a group of their own fans who have been performing covers of the metal band’s music.” In a 41-page document to Canadian tribute band Sandman they sneered “Metallica owns, and has registered, their name and trademark METALLICA.”

Rockfeed went on to report: “The legal paperwork references the band’s Facebook and YouTube profiles in the documents, which means Metallica probably has a team of people who actually scour the internet looking for people playing their music.”

I can imagine Lars, completely naked except for a scarf, trawling through 160,000 Youtube clips, lying on his bed made of Benjamin’s while feverishly scribbling notes like a mad scientist trying to find injustices to the Metallica brand.

At HEAVY, we completely understand the whole intellectual property thing, it’s even been an issue for us at HEAVY but there is a f*cking limit! A limit, which comes well before dressing down a band that is playing as a tribute to YOU or at least what you used to be…

Hopefully the jolly old boys of Metallica can recover from this awful injustice and get out of it with just a few trips to the psychiatrist.

Please enjoy this…whatever this is?
