Padded Cell Productions and BMF Productions present the 5th Metal in the Mountains. Situated in the heart of history-drenched Beechworth, this dose of alternative, underground culture proudly stands behind the Historic precinct buildings.
On November 30 the peaceful citizens of the quiet historic township of Beechworth will be shaken from their vintage homes. The earth itself will quake and the cockatoos will scream from the trees. All within earshot will know that Metalhead Ned is back in town.
This year’s line-up features eight of our favourite heavyweights from all corners of the scene converging for a massive day of riffs, ribs and refreshments. Kicking off from the early afternoon, this year’s show features:
SORDID ORDEAL: After fourteen years of relentless, booze-soaked hard Punk gigs in the seediest corners of the Melbourne scene, Sordid Ordeal have brought their debut album forth into a world that is still not ready for it. Fronted by the charismatic and dulcet tones of the Voice of Flinders St himself, this eclectic sextet will take you on a hair-raising journey to the city, charged with colour and chaos.
DARK HORSE: Raw and savagely intense, Dark Horse disseminate the ills of the modern world with a crushing and furious energy. A visceral tide of crusted grinding hardcore, the Sydney quartet hold nothing back, flinging abrasive and blisteringly fast songs with brutal efficiency.
MAMMON’S THRONE: This is an intense, tight unit bearing a heavy load of aggression and power that lifts their sound far above the average doom outfit. Thunderous, huge and imposing, the Melbourne-based quintet deliver a blackened and often melodic symphony of monstrous riffs.
MUNITIONS: Formed in the midst of the Pandemic, Munitions have wasted no time. Bursting forth from the chaos with a barrage of gigs and two Eps, the blows dealt by these veterans are hard hitting and plentiful. Oozing a menacing hatred delivered with a style of thrash-infused death metal that is dangerously addictive, this is one not to miss.
THE KRUGERS: Melbourne has delivered a steady stream of infamous outlaws to the country at large. From the same sinister streets comes the last word in outlaw rock n roll. Bluesy and greasy, laced with country filth and a pure, degenerate attitude, this ragtag group of ne’er do wells are inbound to the stomping ground of Australia’s most famous vagabond.
SCARNON: Bare-arsed and brazen, with hair and riffs reminiscent of all the best bits of the 90s, Scarnon will make you leap up, spill your beer, and send the ashtray flying. Relatable, sometimes funny and sometimes gross, this raw Aussie three-piece keep it pretty damn real.
INHERIT NOTHING: Local hardcore legends Inherit Nothing are champions of the Albury underground. With new music to assail your ears, the four-piece brings a potent energy to the stage, aggressively confronting the crude underside of the regional urban wasteland, fresh from the stark and savage streets of Lavington.
ARKANGEL: Fresh on the local scene, Arkangel throw down a brutal style of deathcore laced with a taste of nu-metal. Delivering scathing sermons in the form of crushing breakdowns, punchy riffs and demonic screams.
Metal in the Mountains is back for an immense 5th year, with another horde of Australia’s most wanted all fixing their sights on the unsuspecting town of Beechworth on Nov 30. First-release tickets are on sale now and will not last long. www.metalinthemountains.com.au
