Classic 80’s thrash legends Metal Church are currently recording vocals for their upcoming album since announcing their reformation in October last year.

Considered one of the major influences for what we now know as thrash metal, the band has suffered from numerous line-up changes since their debut self titled release in 1984.

The one constant has always been founding guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof, with the current members made up of vocalist Ronny Munroe, guitarist Rick Van Zandt, Steve Unger on bass and drummer Jeff Plate. The same line-up last worked together on the 2008 release The Present Wasteland before disbanding for the second time in their career the following year. Original vocalist David Wayne died in 2005 from complications suffered from a car accident a few months before his passing.

The band have been recording their comeback album at Vanderhoof’s studio, English Channel in Washington State and will be out later this year via his Body of Work Recordings label.

Upon their reunion announcement, they went on to perform at this years 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise where during one of two sets, they played their classic first album Metal Church in its entirety.
