Melbourne’s heavy music community comes together to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Melbourne Metal Mates gig buddy group. Growing to 2,000+ members in under 12 months, Melbourne Metal Mates will host its first-ever (free) gig on Sunday, May 4 2025 from 6pm to 10pm at the Bendigo Hotel in Collingwood, with a killer lineup for serious handbangers (crowd surfing optional).
Performances include Hybrid Nightmares, Vault Hill, The Incantus and All Monsters Are Human.
Melbourne Metal Mates founder, Kat Wartooth, created the group with one aim: to find other metalheads to go to gigs with and create a community based on the love of heavy music.
“I started Melbourne Metal Mates because I didn’t know anyone who liked Rotting Christ and I had tickets. I expected I would find one or two hundred other gig buddies, and we would keep each other company at concerts, however Melbourne Metal Mates took on a life of its own.
