With the countdown to Necrosonic Festival at The Mansfield Tavern in Brisbane on August 31 now on, HEAVY thought it appropriate to introduce you to the bands playing on the day, two at a time, starting from today until the day of the show.
Conjured by one of the dark architects behind the legendary Overcranked, Inferno and Dead of Winter Festivals, Necrosonic heralds a day filled with unrelenting brutality and the heaviest, most sinister sounds that the underworld has to offer, some even returning from the dead for the ritual.
Hosting 30 bands across three stages over 12 hours, Necrosonic Festival promises to satiate even the heaviest of hungers. Today, we introduce you to Resin Tomb and Algor Mortis.

RESIN TOMB
Resin Tomb is an Australian extreme metal ensemble that emerged onto the scene in 2019. Comprising members hailing from acclaimed outfits such as Siberian Hell Sounds and Descent, Resin Tomb embarked on a singular mission: to craft music that evokes sensations of unease and visceral intensity. Renowned for their raw, abrasive sonic palette and frenetic stage presence, Resin Tomb seamlessly amalgamates dissonant death metal and blackened grind, continuously pushing the boundaries as they explore the depths of their unique musical identity.
ALGOR MORTIS
Algor Mortis from Melbourne, Victoria combines old school Death Metal and Beatdown/Hardcore to bring you riffs, breakdowns, blast beats and gutturals that’ll have you wanting to rip your face clean off.
Formed in 2019 and after a few line up changes, Algor Mortis has evolved into one of Melbourne’s heaviest and most notable bands in the genre. Their upcoming and long-awaited EP Stages Of Death is sure to solidify their place in Australia’s heavy music scene.
Playing alongside bands such as; XIBALBA (USA), Kruelty (JPN), Jungle Rot (USA) and even featuring Don Campan of Waking The Cadaver (USA) on their single Welcome To Hell Algor Mortis have also toured the country alongside Sanguisugabogg (USA) and undoubtedly one of Australia’s best, Disentomb.
