With the countdown to Necrosonic Festival at The Mansfield Tavern in Brisbane on August 31 now on, HEAVY thought it appropriate to introduce you to the bands playing on the day, two at a time, starting from today until the day of the show.
Conjured by one of the dark architects behind the legendary Overcranked, Inferno and Dead of Winter Festivals, Necrosonic heralds a day filled with unrelenting brutality and the heaviest, most sinister sounds that the underworld has to offer, some even returning from the dead for the ritual.
Hosting 30 bands across three stages over 12 hours, Necrosonic Festival promises to satiate even the heaviest of hungers. Today, we introduce you to Descent and Therein.

DESCENT
Descent are a metal/hardcore band hailing from Brisbane, Australia, formed in 2014 with the desire to create a sound influenced by a plethora of styles falling under the umbrella of extreme and heavy music.
Descent features members of From These Wounds, Scumguts, Dire Wolf, Coffin Birth, The Fevered, and Siberian Hellsounds. Since the release of their demo in 2015 the band has earned numerous support including international acts like Cattle Decapitation, Dark Funeral End & Cult Leader just to name a few.
THEREIN
Therein is a progressive/experimental metal band from Brisbane, Australia. A brazen writing style with little regard to trends or convention, and idiosyncratic tastes of the band members see the band twist and turn through a nebulous catalogue of styles which has taken the band everywhere from underground Metal clubs in Japan to Australia’s renown Woodford Folk Festival. Therein’s latest effort FILTH sees the band digging deep into their Death Metal roots to create their most disgusting and dissonant collection of tunes.
