Guitarist Bill Kelliher and drummer Brann Dailor recently spoke with Live Nation TV and revealed that Mastodon are about to embark in the process of writing a new album. It will be the first album since 2014’s Once More ‘Round The Sun.
“With a new record looming—we’re about to go into writing, I just want to be able to do something different and not be stagnant with my playing. Every new album is another opportunity to ‘do more better’—cause we ‘should do more better, shouldn’t we?’ [laughs].”
They also got into how the writing process has changed over the years: “Back then, we write a bunch of riffs in a row and just say, ‘That sounds cool!'” explains Kelliher. “Now we’re starting to focus more on the balance between vocals and just instrumentation. It’s a natural progression.”
