LØLØ GETS INTO THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT (AND HER FEELINGS) ON NEW DOUBLE SINGLE mall santa OUT NOW

Just at the cusp of the holiday season, acclaimed pop-rock firebrand LØLØ is trading holiday cheer for heartbreak with the release of her new double single, mall santa, out today. Featuring the title track and silent night, the project delivers a bittersweet twist on the most wonderful time of the year. mall santa finds LØLØ turning to an unlikely source for a Christmas miracle: a stranger dressed as Santa Claus. The track transforms an emotional spiral into a witty holiday anthem. Meanwhile, the artist’s cover of silent night offers a stripped-back, heartfelt take on the Christmas classic.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the project, LØLØ shared, “mall santa is about being so heartbroken and desperate, that you are willing to try anything…including trauma dumping on a random man dressed as Santa Claus. I loved the idea of taking a really sad and pathetic feeling and putting it in such a ridiculous setting, because that’s how heartbreak feels a lot of the time. You know there’s no magical fix, but a tiny part of you is still like…okay, but what if there is? I hope this song speaks to anyone who is spending the holidays wishing for the one thing Santa most definitely can’t put under the tree.”

mall santa follows an exciting year for LØLØ, who unveiled her critically acclaimed sophomore album, god forbid a girl spits out her feelings!, in April (via Fearless Records). The deeply personal project further cemented her reputation for turning messy emotions, romantic misadventures, and intrusive thoughts into infectious pop-rock gems.

Earlier this summer, The Plain White T‘s gave their Grammy-nominated, multi-Platinum smash Hey There Delilah a boost with a new version featuring LØLØ. The reimagining brought her take on the classic to life, giving Delilah a voice of her own. In a full-circle moment in September, LØLØ welcomed frontman Tom Higgenson on stage during her Toronto headline show to perform the track. Clips of the surprise performance quickly went viral, now surpassing 129 million views across TikTok and Instagram. The moment marked a full-circle culmination of a story six years in the making. During the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, LØLØ originally recorded and shared her own response to the classic, titled Hey It’s Delilah, from home. The cover subsequently went viral on TikTok, planting the seeds for what would eventually become an official collaboration with the band. Next week on Thursday, October 29th US time, she and Tom will perform Hey There Delilah (ft. LØLØ) on the fourth hour of NBC’s TODAY, also marking LØLØ’s American television debut.
