Live Review: PAPA ROACH & NOTHING MORE at House Of Blues, Myrtle Beach on 7/4/18

On April 7, 2018 the Crooked Teeth World Tour made its second stop in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Performing for a sold out venue, Escape The Fate kicked off the night. They played a very short set, but was enough to get the crowd excited for the next band to take the stage; none other than Nothing More.

Opening the set with their song “Do You Really Want It?” set the mood perfectly for the high energy performance that Nothing More delivered. Keeping the fast pace going and the crowd moving with songs like “Let ‘Em Burn” and “Go To War” it was clear the band leaves it all on the stage. Progressing through the set, things slowed down a bit for a moment as front man Jonny Hawkins stood in the center of the stage and said, “This song is for my sister.”As the opening to the song “Jenny” began to play, it seemed as if the crowd connection had grown stronger. This is by far the best song Nothing More performs live. With it’s strong emotional delivery and powerful lyrics this is one song that is unforgettable regardless of who you are there to see. Ramping things back up, with the song “Salem (Burn The Witch)”, allowed the crowd to move intensely to end the set strong.

Next up was the final set of the night and it was the band everyone had been waiting for, Papa Roach. The fans anxiously gazed at the white curtain covering the stage waiting for the band. As the curtain fell to the ground and the opening of their song “Crooked Teeth” echoed through the venue, the crowd cheered at its loudest! Moving through the song and going immediately into the track “…To Be Loved”, the crowd momentum stayed high. The crowd even had the metal barricade that’s bolted to the concrete floor moving and shaking. Seeing that was enough to realize that this crowd wasn’t going to slow down at anytime for the set. Moving through the set with songs like “Face Everything And Rise” and “Kick In The Teeth”, they eventually came to a spot where they slowed it down. As the lights fell and a spotlight landed on lead singer Jacoby Shaddix, the band began to play the song “Gravity”. It was as if the entire crowd paused for a moment to allow the song to echo throughout the venue. As the set continued and songs like “Help”, “Getting Away With Murder”, “Falling Apart”, and “Scars” were played for the sold out Myrtle Beach crowd, the energy continued to build. Closing the night was their song “Last Resort” and it truly was the song of the night. As the crowd went harder than ever, front man Jacoby jumped off the stage onto the barricade and got up close and personal with the fans! There is definitely a mutual admiration between Papa Roach and their fans.
