Constructs of the State
Release Date: 27 November
Fat Wreck Chords
Review by Brenton Harris

Alphabet City, anarcho-punk collective Leftöver Crack return with their first album in 11 years, Constructs of the State.  With an election year looming in the USA and the world in a media-branded ‘war on terror’ the timing couldn’t be better. 13 slabs of blistering, confrontational punk-rock with an urgent social message. Constructs of the State is a swift boot to the ass of a scene that has become jaded and safe.

Scott “Stza” Sturgeon shreds up a storm as he screeches line-after-line of honest social commentary, providing upfront and unfiltered takes on religious fundamentalism, police violence, corporate greed, racism and the apathy that allows it all to thrive, as Leftöver Crack are joined by a who’s who of the punk-scene to provide a thrilling and adventurous (by punk and Fat Wreck standards) sonic backdrop.

Whether thrashing away on opener Archaic Subjugation, inciting skank circles on ska-infused cuts System Fucked (featuring Operation Ivy’s Jesse Michaels) and íPoliamor Fiesta Crack! or slamming old-school hardcore on The War at Home, Leftöver Crack hit the mark, leaving you wide-awake and inspired.
