Leading The Pack With A SOMERSET PARADE

Share This:

Brisbane hard rock outfit A Somerset Parade introduced their fans to a harder, heavier edge of their sound with previous single Clementine, a song which moved the band from the almost softer edge of the rock spectrum to the heavier end in one release.

Rather than revert to the tried and true formula with theirt follow up single Alpha, A Somerset Parade have instead turned their focus to continuing their heavier path, in doing so offering an exciting glimpse into the future of a band who are steadily improving with each release.

Guitarist Andrew Nolan joined HEAVY for a chat about the new single and how it relates to the band moving forward.

“This is… with our last single Clementine we started going in a directionthat was heavier than our pop punk sort of roots” Nolan measured. “This is more in the same vein as Clementine, but I think it’s a little more focussed. It’s a bit heavier and comes in at under three minutes so it’s in and out and in your face and unapologetic. It’s kind of a showcase of where we’re heading and the direction we’ve moved from original.”

When pressed on what he means by focussed, Nolan expanded.

“With Clementine it was… I love that song … but it was kind of like there was stuff going on that wasn’t honed in whereas this time around we’ve got the riffs downpat, we’ve got the samples, the synths and everything lined up and works well together so its a bit more refined and a bit more focussed.”

In the full interview Andrew discusses Alpha in greater detail, runs us through the film clip, talks about acting in the video and how the band settled into that role, the running time of Alpha, writing in a different environment and more.
