Kitsa, a four-piece heavy rock band from Port Orchard, Washington, has released their latest single, The Weight, a dark and riff-driven track that explores the crushing pressure of societal expectations and the fading promise of the American dream.
Built around sinister Pacific Northwest-inspired guitar riffs and a powerful, melodic vocal performance, The Weight blends the heaviness of Kitsa’s sound with a strong sense of atmosphere and melody. The song draws from the darker side of the Pacific Northwest rock tradition while pushing into heavier territory.
Lyrically, The Weight examines the expectations society places on people, particularly surrounding race, gender, identity, and the roles we are expected to fulfill. At its core, the song is about the pressure of trying to fit into a world that continually tells us who we should be, while questioning what remains of the American dream underneath those expectations.
