ARIA and APRA nominated iconic Melbourne band Kingswood have today unveiled details about their forthcoming studio album Home featuring the new single Burning Holes.

This is hands down the best writing to come from the Kingswood camp in recent times, and heralds a significant return to form for the critically acclaimed 4-piece.

To celebrate, HEAVY sat down for a special feature with Kingswood to discover the top five highlights of the band’s career.

  1. The greatest highlight is undoubtedly the people we have met and the family we have grown over the years. The music and arts community is vast and you meet, work and share experiences with so many wonderful people. We are eternally grateful for this and it is a constant fuel to the fire.
  1. Recording our first album in Nashville was a truly eye opening, inspiring and just the most fun a kid could have. We have recorded all or parts of all our records there but the first time was an incredible experience. The town, the studios and the people create an environment that suits us greatly and it is our second home.
  1. We have had the privilege of doing some of the great touring festivals in Australia, stand alone festivals like Splendour are tremendous, we’ve been lucky enough to play three times there. But there is something special about touring festivals like GTM or Big Day Out. With so many bands traveling together, the bonds you form and the fun you all have is pretty wild. Special mention to the AC/DC tour we didn’t with Swedish gentlemen The Hives. They weren’t allowed to do side shows but we were so we would both play the AC/DC show, then watch them, then KW would do a club show at midnight and the Hives would DJ after. Best tour ever.
  1. Covid obviously hit hard, cancelled everything. But we stayed positive, and wanted to make the most of the time. We went to a horse range with a studio in Mt Tamborine QLD and recorded two albums, the next two to come out. It was an almost spiritual experience. We took our time, sometimes going into the studio for only a few hours a day, we would sit by the pool and write, find different parts of the property that had unique acoustics and recorded there. It was a wonderful time.
  2. To be able to travel the world and play music is something we are proud of and adore. We are able to visit so many different countries and try to immerse ourselves in culture and history. We’ve been across North America, Europe, UK, even Afghanistan. And hope to continue visiting more and more parts of our beautiful world.
