Tonight we’re gonna focus on playing as much material from as many records as possible,” promised Kenny Wayne Sheppard ahead of the first show of the tour at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney tonight.
“We have a lot of fans that have been supporting us our entire career – over 25 years – but we also play songs off the new record ‘Lay It All Down’, which has been out just over a year. “We’re gonna try and strike a balance. We’re gonna play some new stuff, we’re gonna play some old stuff, we’re gonna play some stuff off the first album, some off the second, some off the third, and just give people a variety and hopefully most people will hear the songs that they were hoping to hear.”
In the full interview, Kenny Wayne discusses his career, how he finds a balance in his set list that satisfies both fans of the band as well as fans of his guitar playing, how where he was born in Louisianna has had a bearing on the style he plays, what being self taught means to his guitar playing, the impact his music has had on others throughout his career, his personal view on what he has given the music world and more.
