Ocean Grove have announced that a member has been tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus.

🦠 IMPORTANT: If you were at an Ocean Grove meet and greet recently you may have been exposed to a contagious virus.

The band confirmed the sad news today on social media:

“After feeling what was interpreted as a common headache, he began experiencing symptoms of the virus on Monday 16th and was tested the following morning,” the statement reads.

“Results have come back today, and our brother is currently in good spirits while being treated.”

Ocean Grove have encouraged any fans who attended a meet and greet in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane this past weekend to get tested for COVID-19.

“We are so incredibly grateful for the overwhelming amount of support we have received in the weeks leading up to the release of our album and most of all this release week has been truly remarkable.

“It saddens us that those showing their direct support in attending a signing event should be affected in any way.”

The news comes just a week after Ocean Grove released their second album, Flip Phone Fantasy.

Announcement on Facebook by the label, UNFD:

“We’ve just received unfortunate news that a member of Ocean Grove has tested positive for COVID-19 (Coronavirus). After what was first interpreted as a common headache, he began experiencing other symptoms associated with the virus on Monday, March 16 upon which he was tested. The results have just come back today, and he is currently in good spirits while being treated.

Having just completed a promotional run of meet & greets over the weekend in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, Ocean Grove and UNIFIED felt a social responsibility to share the news immediately. If you attended one of these events, please follow the Australian Government’s advice to self-isolate for 2 weeks to prevent the spread of the virus to other people. In the event you start to experience symptoms associated with COVID-19, please seek medical attention.

Even if you are not experiencing any symptoms and/or did not attend one of the meet & greets, please consider practicing self-distancing and good hygiene to stop the virus from spreading.

We’d like for you to please keep the Ocean Grove guys (and others affected) in your hearts and minds during this time.”
