Michigan metalcore powerhouse I Prevail is about to tear across the country for their Violent Nature Australian Tour, marking the largest headline arena run of their career Down Under. Teaming up with progressive metalcore heavyweights Imminence and Invent Animate, the June 2026 trek commands major stages across Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney. This tour represents a monumental milestone and a bold new chapter for the band, as they return to what they officially consider a “second home” to perform their punishing 2025 self-produced album, Violent Nature, completely live for their dedicated Australian fanbase.
At the absolute epicentre of this live campaign is frontman Eric Vanlerberghe, who has stepped into a relentless, high-stakes role as the band’s sole lead vocalist. Following the departure of co-vocalist Brian Burkheiser, Vanlerberghe now commands the full width of the stage alone, demonstrating animalistic energy while pulling off a massive trial-by-fire vocal feat. His energy is obviously infectious, with plaudits the world over hailing the band’s recent shows.
Vanlerberghe sat down ahead of the tour and told HEAVY his current five favourite songs to perform live.
Bow Down
At the moment, Bow Down is still near the top of the list. That’s actually one of my favourite songs we’ve ever written. It means a lot to me, and it’s never been a dull moment playing that song. I love it. I can always connect to it too; it doesn’t matter what I’m going through or where I’m at in life; playing that song always resonates heavily for me.
Violent Nature
Violent Nature is another one. It was just a few shows after we released it that I realised I didn’t have to sing the “I’m a sick motherfucker with a violent nature” part. I could just hold the mic out, and the crowd scream it. I’m getting goosebumps now thinking about going and playing our first show in Perth and hearing how loud that crowd’s going to be for Violent Nature. So that one’s up there for sure.
Rain
Rain is a new one that’s really fun. It’s the first song on the record that I really started finding my voice and singing most of the song. That’s really fun to play for that reason as well.
Choke
We throw this one in every now and then, too, Choke off of TRUE POWER. That’s got a fun energy. It’s aggressive, and it’s got this little sarcastic kind of energy to it. It’s just so much fun.
Gasoline
Gasoline would have to be another one. I’m out in LA right now. I was actually at a Magic: The Gathering Marvel event. I met a few people in that card space, the Magic: The Gathering space, and when I introduced myself, and they asked what band I was in, I told them. And they were like, “wait a minute, I think I have a song or two of yours on my gym playlist”.
They pulled it up, and it was always either Bow Down or Gasoline. So I love playing Gasoline purely for the fact that if you come to an I Prevail show and you’re kind of familiar, you’re probably going to know that one. And if you’ve known us forever, you definitely know that one and I’m going to see you in the pit. It’s also just a fun way to end the set. We’ve been ending the set in the past with that song, and it feels like such a great moment to end on.
