Melbourne rock outfit HZED have dropped their electric new single Say Whatcha Want.
Produced by Rusty Brown (of the legendary Electric Mary), the track is a masterclass in “short and punchy” rock and roll. To turn the heat up even further, HZED recruited Aussie rock icon Dave Leslie (The Baby Animals) to lend his signature searing guitar work to the track, creating a high-octane colaboration that demands to be heard at maximum volume.
Say Whatcha Want is an anthem for anyone who has ever been gaslit or misrepresented in a relationship. The song explores the power shift that occurs when a victim finds their voice, punctuated by the biting realization: “It’s painful to see that I’m no longer weak.” With lyrics like “I love the way you make me out as insane/What’s to gain, if you just play it safe,” the song serves as a defiant shield against manipulation with the band leaning into the tension of the track, noting that “you clearly set me up to make me fall,” but reminding listeners that “there’s fire in the quietest of the storm.”
To celebrate the release, HZED will be hitting the stage for two massive launch shows across Victoria featuring a heavyhitting lineup of special guests.
