HYPER PLANET Release ‘Red Autumn’, Dedicated To Fellow Iranians

Share This:

Tehran progressive metal outfit Hyper Planet recently released their latest single, Red Autumn.

The track is dedicated to Mahsa Amini and in support and solidarity with all the brave Iranian women and girls at the front line of achieving their freedom in Iran.

Vocalist/guitarist Amin Saffar and bass player Armin Saffer explain more.

Amin: We are Hyper Planet, a progressive metal band from Tehran-Iran. We grew up in a musical family playing traditional Iranian music. My brother and I started our musical activities when I was seven years old with the Santur instrument, and Armin with the Tombak (an Iranian percussion instrument) when he was six. We continued to learn those instruments from our father. And after that, we gravitated toward progressive metal music and started playing Armin Bass at 16 and me playing electric guitar at 17.

Armin: In 2010, we formed Hyper Planet with my brother Amin. We have four albums ready to be released. Still, due to our albums’ political and critical content to the Islamic regime dominating Iran and its political and religious ideologies, all our musical activities, such as releasing, selling, and doing concerts in our country, has been banned. Still, because of our intense love and passion for metal music, we believe that artists should express their ideas and opinions in creating their art but publishing our singles put our lives and families at a very high risk of arrest, imprisonment, and even death. The song “Red Autumn” is about Mahsa Amini and “Woman, Life, Freedom,” And this is all we want, standing with all the Iranian women and girls on the front line of the revolution of the Iranian people toward freedom, democracy, and human rights.

Amin: As you may know, Mahsa Amini was arrested and killed by the morality (religious) police about sixty days ago just because she did not wear a proper hijab. After murdering Mahsa Amini, nationwide protests have been formed in Iran until today. These protests have turned into a revolution of the Iranian people against the Islamic regime in Iran and all the oppression that this regime has imposed on Iranian women’s rights during the 43 years since they seized power in 1979. Our whole effort and goal are to be able to do our duty as a musician through our protest music to share the message of Iranian women, which is “Woman, Life, Freedom,” to the world. So, we would like to ask your readers and everyone to help Iranian women’s voices be heard worldwide by publishing and sharing “Red Autumn.”
